I got invited to join a temporary artist collective for the interim use of the "Kindl Brauerei" in Berlin Neukoelln. 20 artists from diverse backgrounds worked for a week on the topic of sleep. In the foreground stood mutual learning, workshops, excercises, interventions into each others practises and the occupation of alternative spaces apart the usual gallery /art production landscape.
In the meantime the gentrification process of the "Kindl" is almost completed and the space where we worked has turned into a high profile gallery space.
My works from that week:
5000 Songs Containing “Sleep” video, looped, 13'41''presented on a block monitor in front of the "hut" to lull you visually into sleep.
Deep Sleep space intervention with Torsten Hartlebthe glazed observation room overlooking the whole bustling brewery space becomes a pitch dark and silenced space, the floor cold, moving and earthy, inviting to spend time in the subconscious.
Hominid Sleep #10.962b
space intervention with Milena Leszkowicz und Yonatan David Weizman
the pre-existing concrete structure is transformed into an excavation site for 'a' sleep, revealing patterns and structures poetically.
